Su Hum

Many believe that the world is formed upon four fundamental elements: water, fire, air, and earth—elements that appear as shared dimensions within ancient myths and belief systems across different eras, and have therefore long served as sources of artistic inspiration.
The mantra Su Hum, meaning “I am that,” points to the unity and oneness of the individual soul with the divine spirit, and stands as a metaphor for the idea that we, too, are composed of these very elements.
In the present exhibition, the Carat group, led by Afshin Shamohammadi, seeks to reintroduce the concepts embodied by these four natural elements by breathing their essence into handcrafted silver jewelry. Through this process, spirit is infused into lifeless metal, reviving ancient cosmological beliefs and granting them new life through a contemporary artistic expression.
