In the 11th century AH, the uprising of the largest Afshar tribal groups against Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty led to their relocation to the regions of Kerman and Sirjan. This migration gave rise to the renowned Sirjan kilim, which—through its distinctive motifs, refined weaving techniques, and the delightful harmony of natural dyes—became one of the most exquisite and captivating handwoven kilims of Iran, and indeed one of the finest examples of kilim artistry in the world.
