The exhibition “Birds of Iran” is a contemporary initiative to summon the ancient bird motif—so deeply rooted in Iranian culture and aesthetics—into the present moment, in the spirit of what Jacques Derrida might call a summoning of presence. It seeks to cast a renewed, modern gaze on a symbol as old as Iranian civilization itself. With all their semiotic, mythical, and legendary dimensions, the bird motifs of Iran represent a vital part of the nation’s cultural and artistic heritage. In this exhibition, through both the finesse of design and the precision of craftsmanship, they begin a new chapter in the evolving narrative of Iranian metalwork and engraving.
