The engraving style of this vessel is fine-chisel and semi-relief.
It is a double-layered piece, in which the inner layer rotates, changing the pierced (openwork) scene, allowing the viewer to choose which image to reveal. On the outer layer, two alternating scenes are depicted: King Kavus with Sudabeh and the courtiers in the royal hall, all with sorrowful, distressed, and astonished expressions, watching the trial of truth — Siavash passing through the fire.
In one corner of the composition, there is also the figure of an angel, symbolizing heavenly protection over him.
Along the upper and lower rims of the vessel, several verses from the Shahnameh are finely engraved.
