Mohsen Sepantafar

Born in February 1984 in Isfahan, Mohsen Sepantafar grew up in a family of talented artists and craftsmen, where his deep fascination with handcrafted creations blossomed at an early age. Immersed in the artistic environment of his father's workshop, he gravitated toward metal as a medium, drawn by its expressive potential and rich textures. His artistic journey took a defining turn when he encountered the art of engraving, an experience he recalls with great affection: “The sound of the chisel was like music to my ears.” This moment marked the beginning of his passionate exploration of the craft.

In 2004, Sepantafar began formal academic training in engraving alongside his university studies in a metal-related field. Combining technical discipline with an insatiable drive to innovate, he quickly established himself as a gifted and determined artist. Gaining hands-on experience at the Atabat Isfahan workshop, he soon sought creative independence and founded a small workshop of his own, where his craft evolved further. During this period, Sepantafar deepened his connection with his tools, allowing his artistic intuition to guide him. As he explains, “I conversed with my chisel, and it responded. I wanted my designs to reflect my voice, not just narrate others’ ideas.” Seeking mastery in design, he honed his skills under renowned mentors such as Master Bahram Taheri and Master Ahmad Moti.

Today, Sepantafar’s work is celebrated in private collections and prestigious galleries across the globe, from the Persian Gulf to North America. Known for his disciplined approach and creative ingenuity, he is deeply inspired by cultural aesthetics, especially attire and jewelry. His expertise in body and facial anatomy, coupled with his keen understanding of light, shadow, and dimensions, allows him to craft striking three-dimensional copper reliefs. His portfolio includes 25 prominent works, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in his exceptional artistry. Sepantafar remains a passionate advocate for cultural exploration, weaving elements of tradition and innovation into every piece he creates.
