Mohammad Mahdi Babakhani is an innovative and dexterous engraver. The way he engraves so skillfully, elegantly and splendidly make it impossible to leave his name out in the chain of the glorious engravers of Iran.

He started engraving with late Master Namjou when he was 17 and also benefited from the training sessions he had with late Master Dehnavi. From the very beginning, he studied the patterns of various historical eras with great enthusiasm and acquired such skills and proficiency that only after four years, he presented himself into the professional market. His talent and innovation was the cause that he grew on quickly and created prominent pieces. His growth was in such a state that one of his masterpieces, engraved in the form of a laver "Friendship" is displayed in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations in Geneva, as a symbol of Iranian traditionaI artworks.

The favorite style of this young master is the Seljuk which he has revived the original Seljuk forms and patterns through in-depth studies and research on Seljuk's period patterns and forms.

And by engraving accurate and delicate patterns, he turns his original and unique pieces into perfection.

He believes that cultural heritage and other art works such as paintings and calligraphy, will become eternal once engraved on metals and remains safe throughout time.

Mohammad Mahdi Babakhani is an enthusiastic and sensitive engraver. Of other arts, he dominates calligraphy to perfection and in 1994 he received the highest degree in this field. He relates his accelerated development to his dedication to the art and believes that world has been made by the hands of the lovers and not the wise! His love for the art of engraving, and especially the artworks of his predecessors, floats around in his workshop.
